Compulsory wearing of seatbelts
All occupants of a motor vehicle (the driver, front-seat passengers and anyone travelling on the rear seats) are required to wear a seatbelt.
If the seat is equipped with a seatbelt, the person travelling in that seat is required by law to wear it. Individuals over the age of 14 are personally responsible for ensuring they wear their seatbelt. This means that the driver cannot be held responsible if passengers over the age of 14 fail to wear their seatbelt. However, drivers are responsible for ensuring that passengers under the age of 14 are suitably secured in the vehicle.
Caution
Being pregnant does not exempt you from the requirement to wear a seatbelt.
